Samsung Galaxy A7 vs HTC One M8: Comparison of Features, Specs

Samsung has recently released a number of new devices this month, and all eyes are currently on the Korean company's new flagship, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. However, these two smartphones are not the only devices that are worth your time, as Samsung has also launched the Galaxy A7—a slim, all-metal handset with a powerful octa-core processor.

Meanwhile, though HTC has already released its latest flagship, the One M9, its predecessor, the HTC One M8 still continues to be a favorite of tech watchers as the phone is beautifully designed, has sophisticated features, and can match some top Samsung phones on any feature that matters, such as processing speed and image quality.

Here, we compare the Samsung Galaxy A7 with the HTC One M8.

Design:
The HTC One M8 has a brushed metal back and a reflective bezel which gives the phone a premium feel. The phone measures 5.76 x 2.78 x 0.37 inches and weighs 5.64 ounces, and it's available in gray, silver, and gold.

The Galaxy A7 has an all-metal frame that feels more luxurious and sturdier than previous Samsung phones. The phone measures 5.94 x 3.00 x 0.25 inches and weighs 4.97 ounces. The handset comes in white, dark blue, and champagne.

Features:
When it comes to screen size, the A7 wins with its 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display over the 5-inch screen of the One M8. However, both screens have the same resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The A7 has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 to make it scratch resistant.

The One M8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core chip set, but the Samsung phone has a more powerful processor, which is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa core processor. The A7 doesn't come with the latest Android OS though, as it runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat, while the One M8 has the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The One M8 has a 4MP dual lens camera at the back of the phone, but it can't compete with the A7's 13MP rear-facing camera. Both phones have a 5MP front facing camera.

Price:
Off contract, the HTC One M8 cost $700, while the Samsung Galaxy A7 costs $450.
