Samsung Galaxy Nexus Release Date: Verizon LTE Version Approved by FCC
As customers await the release of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on the Verizon Wireless network, reports indicate that the Federal Communications Commission has now approved the smartphone for retail.
International branches of Samsung, as well as international wireless carriers, have announced the release dates of their Galaxy Nexus models. However, Verizon is remaining elusive about its plans for the smartphone.
All that is known about the release of the Verizon Wireless variant of the Galaxy Nexus is that it will be LTE capable and that it will release "later this year," as noted by Verizon in a statement soon after its unveiling in October.

The United Kingdom variant of the Galaxy Nexus is scheduled to release on Nov. 17, while the Canadian variants are expected to release between early December and January. The Galaxy Nexus is not an American made phone, so international releases before a United States release is commonplace.
Industry insiders suggested that the U.S. variant of the smartphone might release on Nov. 21, as a leak of the Verizon Wireless advertisement "Roadmap" details. The Roadmap noted that the advertisement period for the Galaxy Nexus begins just after Black Friday weekend. That indicated it should release just before Black Friday.
The device's approval by the FCC may be an indication that its release of the Galaxy Nexus is eminent. Just days after it showed up at the FCC, the AT&T announced its plans to release the LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 that is marketed under the variant name Skyrocket.
A number of other devices have also seen prompt releases following being reviewed by the FCC.
The FCC review of the Galaxy Nexus details its external specs such as height and width as well as its LTE antenna and CDMA antenna.
