Samsung Galaxy S3 to Feature 3D Functionality?

Samsung's next rumored smartphone device, the Galaxy S3, may come with glasses-free 3D features.

Korean website ETNews.com reported that the Galaxy S3 will have 3D functionality. These specifications could be somewhat familiar to owners of Nintendo's 3DS handheld system or smartphones like the HTC EVO 3D or LG Thrill 4G. Users of the Galaxy S3 may be able to utilize the 3D graphics to view movies and play games without using 3D glasses.

As for its operating system, the Galaxy S3 should feature Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Since the S2 comes with an 8MP camera capable of filming 1080p HD video, a new and improved camera should come with the S3 as well.

A 4Chan reader recently posted the rumored specifications for the Samsung Galaxy S3 that came from a reliable source.

The reader reported that the Galaxy S3 is expected to include a 2.0GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory with an SD card slot, and a 4.65-inch screen that would match the Galaxy Nexus in terms of size. The new screen will be called the Super AMOLED III and is being developed specifically for the smartphone.

Pictures of Samsung's next smartphone surfaced on the Internet this past weekend. However, new reports have come out stating that the supposedly leaked images of the new Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone are just a render created by a Russian concept phone site. The device in the pictures appears to look a lot like the Samsung Galaxy S2 in appearance.

The original Galaxy S featured Super AMOLED, the S2 featured Super AMOLED Plus, and the Galaxy S3 will include the Super AMOLED III. It is expected to come with 1280x1024 resolution, giving the phone a ppi of 352 – making it the handset with the highest ppi in the market.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to launch sometime in 2012. It is set to make its debut at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona next February.
