Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Coming Out January 2016

Samsung is reportedly gearing up for a January launch for its new flagship devices Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in an effort to gain traction over Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

Although Samsung has recently launched its new Galaxy Note 5 phablets with colors that are similar to the iPhone 6s Plus' variants, their specs are no match for the new Apple smartphones. To compete with its biggest rival, the South Korean tech giant will unveil the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge by mid-January, according to Tech Times.

Samsung was originally set to launch the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in February 2016, but rumor has it that the firm has moved the event to an earlier schedule. The new launch date is noticeably very close to the Mobile World Congress, Latinos Post (LP) reports.

Samsung has already come up with the final design of the Galaxy S7 devices and will soon move on to the manufacturing phase to make it to the rumored launch in January next year. The new flagship devices will boast of three processor variants, USB Type C port, and 3D Touch-like displays, the report details.

Galaxy S7 may come in two variants — one with a 5.2-inch screen and the other with a 5.7-inch screen, based on a Value Walk report quoted by LP. At the same time, one of the variants will come with a dual-edge display and the other with a flat screen display, the report relays.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will run the Exynos 7880 and Exynos 7659 chips. The devices will also use the Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile operating system.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge may not be the only smartphones set to be unveiled in January. Samsung could also launch a third device in the form of a foldable smartphone dubbed "Project Valley," which is currently in the works.

The rumored features of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have not yet been confirmed by the South Korean firm. More details about the flagship smartphones are expected to surface once the launch date draws near.
