Samsung Galaxy S7 Rumors: Upcoming Handset to Feature ClearForce Touch?

Rumors have emerged the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 will be sporting an iPhone-like Force Touch technology called the ClearForce Touch.

Samsung's latest flagship, the Galaxy S7, is likely to be unveiled six months from now, but speculations have arisen the upcoming smartphone will be copying the iPhone 6s' ForceTouch display with a similar technology of its own dubbed the ClearForce pressure-sensitive display.

According to reports from Chinese social network tech site, Weibo, Samsung has signed an agreement with California-based human interface solutions company, Synaptics, which specializes in biometrics, touch, and display technologies.

Their contract will allow Samsung to tap Synaptics technology on upcoming handsets to allow its smartphones' displays to respond to a number of screen pressure levels, similar to the iPhone 6s' 3D Touch.

The Samsung Galaxy S7, when it arrives, will provide users with different menu options in response to their light or heavy taps on the display.

While Apple may have been the first smartphone manufacturer to have brought pressure-sensitive touch technology to handsets, it wasn't the first one to first unveil such a feature. The Huawei Mate S, which was introduced earlier in September but is still awaiting release, also features touch sensitive technology.

With both ForceTouch, and soon ClearForce, arriving in the smartphone market, the technology is likely to become a common feature in handsets in the coming years.

The Galaxy S7 will reportedly come in two variants, a 5.8-inch and 5.2-inch model, with the larger iteration getting the Samsung "Edge" feature.

The upcoming smartphone is likely to carry the company's in-house Exynos 8890 SoC for Asian markets, and sport the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor for Samsung's North American and European markets.

According to rumors, the Galaxy S7 will be carrying 4GB of RAM, an Adreno 530 GPU, a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front shooter when it will finally be unveiled in February 2016.
