Samsung Galaxy S7 vs iPhone 6s: Flagship Smartphone Battle 2016

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S7 at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, and now the new flagship smartphone is being pitted against Apple's iPhone 6s to see which device is more superior.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch display, while the iPhone 6s has a 4.7-inch screen. Both devices follow their usual rectangular metallic designs, but the former has double the number of pixels per inch of its Apple rival, which is 576 ppi versus 326 ppi, Newsweek reports.

Both flagship smartphones have their respective special features. The Galaxy S7 boasts of its dust and water resistance, which have not been included in its predecessor. It can also be submerged in water up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. The iPhone 6s, on the other hand, can only tolerate light splashing, but it has the 3D Touch feature, which allows users to perform different actions based on the pressure they apply on the screen, the report details.

When it comes to the camera, there is not much difference between the two devices. Both the Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6s have 12-megapixel rear shooters and 5-megapixel front cameras. But when it comes to performance under low-light condition and autofocus speed, the Samsung device takes home the bacon.

The iPhone 6s is powered by a 1,715mAh battery, while the Galaxy S7 runs on a 3,000mAh battery. However, real world tests have yet to determine if there will be a significant difference in the battery life of the two smartphones, Know Your Mobile details.

In the cost department, the $800 Galaxy S7 is more expensive that the $760 iPhone 6s, but the latter's price can run up to $849 with added storage. The Samsung handset has 32 GB and 64 GB variants, and the storage is expandable up to 200 GB via microSD card slot and 4GB of RAM. Its rival has a 16 GB entry-level option, but it also has a 128 GB option, with 2 GB of RAM.

In general, the specs and features of the Samsung Galaxy S7 are superior compared with the ones in the Apple iPhone 6s. However, it is up to the consumers to choose between an Android and an iOS device, and this usually determines their phone choices.
