Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date, Specs Rumors: New Feature Could Rival Apple Pay

Samsung's Galaxy S6 will reportedly feature Samsung Pay to compete with Apple Pay.

The said feature will reportedly work with 90 percent of current magnetic stripe terminals. It will have a fingerprint scanner so users can authorize the payment made. Reports say that the comany is working together with Visa to unveil Samsung Pay.

Samsung Galaxy S6 will reportedly have either glass and metal combination or metal alone for the framework. There is still no final report as of this time since Samsung is keen on keeping the design private.

The specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S6 are still speculation and there is no official confirmation from the company if the reports are true. The device will reportedly be a 5.2 inch model with 1440 x 2460 pixel resolution and 554 ppi. The screen is reportedly protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and TouchWiz Ui to prevent smudges and scratches.

Other rumors suggest that it will run with Android 5.0 Lollipop and an Exynos 7420 chipset. Exynos has worked as a powerful replacement for Snapdragon. The chipset will reportedly deliver satisfying performance when the gadget is used for gaming, Gotta Be Mobile reported.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S6's processor, it will have Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A57 and Mali-T760 GPU.The internal memory can store up to 32 GB with 3 GB of RAM. For expansion, a microSD slot is available that can be loaded up to 128 GB.

Users will not be disappointed that the primary camera reportedly has 20 megapixels with 4992 x 3744 resolution. It can record videos up to 2160@30fps, 1080@60fps, 720@120fps and features dual video call. The secondary camera has 5 megapixels and can accommodate dual video call as well. It can record clips up to 1080p@30fps.

Other added features are touch focus, face detection, geo-tagging and panorama. There is also a report that Samsung Galaxy S6 has a "quick charging feature" that can make the handset usable for four hours after just 10 minutes of charging.

In terms of the release date, reports say that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 2 to 5.
