'Scandal' Season 5 Episode 11 Spoilers: Mellie Asks Liv For Campaign Help

Things are about to get even more interesting as the fifth season of ABC's hit political drama TV series "Scandal" continues this week with an episode that is slated to see a strange collaboration between President Fitz's estranged wife, Mellie Grant, and his former mistress, Olivia Pope.

According to the synopsis shared over at The Futon Critic for the episode called "The Candidate," Mellie will call out for Olivia as the former pushes on in her campaign to replace her husband in the White House. However, will Mellie and Liv realize the extent of their partnership?

For Liv, sticking with the ex-first wife will help her gain back control of the Oval Office. Mellie, on her part, needs the other woman's expertise in handling the campaign.

As said over at Carter Matt, viewers will definitely be surprised with the outcome that is yet to unravel in this episode.

In a sneak peek for the episode, viewers can see that Liv and Mellie's working relationship is quite a bit harmonious. However, the latter will soon realize she may have picked the wrong person for the job.

In the clip, Olivia can be seen reading the manuscript of the presidentiable's book. Instead of receiving a tap on the back, Liv dropped the bombshell that she needs Mellie to change an entire chapter of the book and replace it with a more explosive exposition.

It seems that she wants Mellie to reveal why exactly she stayed with Fitz despite learning the truth of his infidelities.

Mellie must have had mixed feelings running through her while she was being confronted by the very woman whom her husband had cheated on her with.

"When Fitz was seeing another woman, you didn't seem to care. We want to know why," Liz blatantly said, adding that she needs to leave their personal feud at the door and attend to the business at hand.

Meanwhile, TFC said that the episode will introduce another female hopeful for the presidency, in the person of Vice President Susan Ross.

"Scandal" Season 5 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
