Seattle Seahawks Injury News: TE Graham Out for Remainder of the Season Due to Torn Patellar Tendon

The Seattle Seahawks got above .500 in Week 12 after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers, 39-30, but not after tight end Jimmy Graham tore the patellar tendon in his right knee. With the injury, the team via Coach Pete Carroll announced that fifth-year player out of the University of Miami will be out for the remainder of the season.

The highly touted tight end is in his first season with the Seahawks after his first team, the New Orleans Saints, traded him for center Max Unger. Carroll recognizes that his team lost a big-time player, who is projected to provide major contributions in the postseason. "We're going to miss the heck out of him the rest of the season. He's been a fantastic addition… So that's unfortunate," he said, referring to the news that Graham will no longer be able to play this year.

The former third round selection of the 2010 NFL Draft and three-time Pro Bowl selection will have to helplessly watch from the sidelines as his team tries to make a playoff push with only a few games remaining in the postseason.

He produced four catches for 75 yards before the injury happened. He was seen being carted off late in the fourth with an air cast on the right leg. Earlier, he came down in a very awkward manner after a jump ball in the end zone. After the game, he left the team's locker with crutches and a full right leg support.

After spending his first four seasons with the Saints, the 29-year-old hasn't found his niche with the Seahawks, but it's relatively unfair to gauge his performance after just a year. His early exit this season means that he'll end up with just 605 yards and a couple of touchdowns in 11 total games. Obviously, he will have to prove that Seattle was right in trading for him come next season.
