'Sherlock' News: Fourth Season Begins Filming
After a long wait, fans are now closer to the fourth season of "Sherlock" as it has been confirmed that filming has officially started.
In a post on the show's official Twitter page, executive producer Mark Gatiss announced through a short clip that production is up on its feet. The 9-seconder shows an eerie background where smoke comes at first covers the face of Gatiss. The series co-creator then slowly approaches the camera and gives a wry smile before saying, "We're back. The game is on."
The video ends with Gatiss snapping a clapperboard with the words "Sherlock IV." The post has gained thousands of likes and has also been re-tweeted by fans who have long been waiting for the show's return.

Gatiss told Entertainment Weekly late last year that fans should gear up for huge changes that will be depicted in the upcoming installment. "All I can say is, this is a major, life-changing series for the regulars. The repercussions of Moriarty's apparent return are far-reaching. I've very big stuff," he said.
As fans already know, Andrew Scott's Moriarty seemed to hint that he is returning when the third season wrapped up. While it is unclear if he is returning literally or as an emotional and mental torture agent against Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock, fans are looking forward to the reunion of the archenemies.
Aside from the big reveal, Gatiss' clapperboard also revealed that Rachel Talalay will be directing one of the episodes in season four. There is nothing else revealed about the said episode but Talalay's entry is a breath of fresh air for the set.
According to Vanity Fair, not only is Talalay the first woman to be a director for the series, but her female perspective on the largely male-centered show will surely bring in many changes for the hit series.
Fans have been wondering when season four will return as the hiatus between the third installment and the Victorian special last year was a little bit too long for viewers. It has been reported previously that Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman's hectic schedules contributed to the delays as it has been difficult to bring the two actors together.
