'Sleepy Hollow' Season 4 News, Spoilers, Cast Updates: 'Arrow's' Janina Gavankar to Join Season 4 As Ichabod Crane's New Love Interest
It just wouldn't be the same with Abbie Mills. But Fox's fantasy series "Sleepy Hollow" has decided to move forward and onward without leading actress Nicole Beharie as it preps for Season 4. No need to fret, however, as Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) will not be left heartbroken for long.
Janina Gavankar ("Arrow" and "True Blood") will be joining "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 as Diana. She's described as a special agent for Homeland security, a tough single mother with a wry sense of humor, TVLine reported. At first she doesn't believe in the supernatural, and gets into even more clashes with Ichabod because of their profoundly different styles. Where Ichabod Crane is methodical, she's more proactive.
But they will slowly get along with each other and find that they're not all that different. They have a shared sense of loss: Ichabod, Abbie, and Diana, the father of her daughter. More than this, however, the two will find they have another important point of connection that neither of them expected.

Struggling series
Janina Gavankar's arrival in "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 is a welcome change following the show's several casting hitches. Aside from Nicole Beharie, series regulars Lance Gross (Daniel Reynolds) and Jessica Camacho (Sophie Foster) are also leaving the show. They joined the long list of departed characters, including Zach Appelman (Joe), Nikki Reed (Betsy) and Shannyn Sossamon (Pandora).
Their exits dovetailed with Fox's decision to reboot the entire "Sleepy Hollow" series for its fourth season, with Tom Mison's Ichabod Crane now assigned to Washington, D.C. The show will be introducing several new characters and regulars, including Oona Yaffe, who will be playing Molly.
According to FOX's head honchos, the decision to continue the series without Abbie Mills had been very difficult for them, especially since Ichabod and Abbie were central to the show. But they were eventually convinced by the show's producers, especially following their impressive pitch on the new characters and storylines.
Significant revamp
The complete overhaul of "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 also promises new missions and new characters to love. Apart from the new ragtag team who will be helping Ichabod Crane during his missions, fans can also expect a new big baddie in the form of Jeremy Davies ("Lost"). He'll be playing Malcolm Dreyfuss, an eccentric and outspoken tech mogul seeking to conquer other worlds.
"Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 will be airing early 2017, though no official date has been announced yet!
