Social Media Enraged at Blake Lively's 'LA Face with an Oakland Body' Photo

Blake Lively is a beloved actress, not only because she's the wife of Ryan Reynolds but also because of her acting skills. However, she recently obtained hate from social media users after she posted a photo of her with the caption: "L.A. face with an Oakland body."

On Tuesday, Lively updated her fans on how the Cannes Film Festival is faring and posted a side-by-side photo of her on social media. On the left, she is facing the camera with her baby bump while on the right, she flaunts her back as her sparkly gown shines on the red carpet.

While Lively may not have meant anything bad when she posted the image, the caption took the attention of many users. Overnight, the picture has acquired over 21,000 comments of mixed emotions.

Some fans noted that an "Oakland booty" is actually a compliment and there's nothing wrong with the words Lively picked. However, some insisted that the actress delivered a serious and "racist" comment.

According to Vanity Fair, one user made mention of Lively's wedding to Reynolds wherein the two tied the knot at Boone Hall Plantation in South Carolina. Boone Hall is facility known for its history of hiring slaves before the Civil War. "As if getting married on a slave plantation wasn't reason enough to hate her," the user commented.

Another follower said, "Unbelievably problematic, using women of color's bodies as a joke. I guess you just want people to know you're racist and you don't give a sh*t."

Twitter has also come across the big issue and there were also mixed emotions among those who saw the caption and photo. E! News notes that Lively isn't the first person who used the words from Sir Mix-A-Lot's hit track "Baby Got Back." Both Katy Perry and Khloé Kardashian have used the exact same lyrics in social media and surprisingly, they didn't receive the same amount of hate.

Despite some of the comments pointing to Lively as a "racist," many others backed her up and realized that the actress may have been trying to put on a post that's supposed to be humor-natured.

The 28-year-old has not yet commented on the issue but it is worth noting that majority of the comments on her picture imply that the model is timeless in beauty and grace.
