Sony Xperia M5 Vs LG G3 Vs OnePlus 2: Zeroing In on Superior Features

With the Sony Xperia M5 unveiled recently and expected to be available in the market soon, it will jockey for a place with two other competing smartphones: the OnePlus 2 and the LG G3.

Competing with the 2014 LG G3 and the recently released OnePlus 2, the Sony Xperia M5, with its expected release date this month, presents several features which may make it a worthy rival of the two other handsets.

The Xperia M5 will be featuring a 5.0-inch screen with a full HD 1920 x 1080 display and 441ppi pixel density, which will go head to head with OnePlus 2's 5-5-inch screen in a 1080 x 1920 pixel display. Meanwhile, the LG G3 bowls the two other handsets over with a mid-scale 5.2-inch True HD-IPS 1440 x 2560-pixel LCD capacitive touchscreen display.

Under the hood, the Xperia M5 will be revving up a MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core CPU, which butts heads with the OnePlus 2's Qualcomm 810 v2.1 processor, and the LG G3's Qualcomm Snapdragon 801.

While the Xperia M5 will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, the LG G3 remains powered by Android 4.4.2 KitKat, which users can upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The OnePlus 2 trumps the two other handsets in this instance, carrying the Android 5.1 Lollipop under the hood.

In terms of storage, the LG G3 comes with 3GB of RAM, and 16GB and 32GB internal memory variants, both expandable up to 128GB via an in-built microSD slot. This storage capacity is on par with the Xperia M5's 3GB of RAM, and 16GB internal memory, expandable up to 200GB. In the case of the OnePlus 2, it has 3GB of RAM for its 16GB version, and 4GB of RAM for its 32GB version.

The Xperia M5 wins hands down in terms of camera features. Sporting a 21.5MP main camera, it also has a 13MP front facing shooter. Meanwhile the OnePlus 2 carries a 13MP rear camera with a 5MP front snapper, and the LG G3 has the lowest specs of the three with its 13MP main camera, and 2.1MP selfie cam in front.

OnePlus 2 wins the battery battle with a 3,300mAh battery, followed by the 3,000mAh battery in the LG G3, and the 2,600mAh battery in the Xperia M5.
