'Spider-Man' Reboot: Kraven The Hunter To Be Villain; Mary Jane Watson To Be In New Movie?

Fans of Marvel's wall-crawler, Spider-Man, already can't wait to see the superhero returning to the big screen, which will happen first in the upcoming Anthony and Joe Russo's film, "Captain America: Civil War." After which, the web-slinger will then be featured in his own spin-off movie in 2017 under the direction of Jon Watts.

Much of the reboot project is still shrouded in mystery except for the fact that the next Spidey alter-ego is Tom Holland. The hero will be younger, more of a high-school age version, when he meet the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Captain America 3. Besides that, everything is left to wild speculations especially as to who he will be facing in Watts' film.

The most rooted among the list of characters is Sergei Kravinoff, a.k.a. Kraven the Hunter. A report from Screen Rant back in August cited a rumor from a major film scooper, Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood.

Gonzalez claimed to have been tipped by a source, who said Karen Moy, the Vice President of Creative Affairs for Sony Entertainment, grabbed a copy of the "Kraven's Last Hunt" paperback issue from Amazon that month.

The rumor once again surfaced when a recent report from Yibada.com cited Marvel president Kevin Feige's statement saying that he opted to introduce new villains in the forthcoming live-action appearance of the superhero.

The same report from the media outlet also quoted Watts in a recent interview wherein he expressed his interest in bringing Mary Jane Watson into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2017 title. The character was previously played by actress Kirsten Dunst in the Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" movie trilogy.

Yibada hinted that "Divergent" star Shailene Woodley might be cast as Peter Parker's love interest, although Marvel has still yet to confirm the validity of the rumors.
