'Lara Croft Go' Release Date for iOS and Android News: Square Enix to Launch August 2015 (VIDEO)

Square Enix has announced it will be launching "Lara Croft Go" for mobile devices by the end of August.

Two months after announcing "Lara Croft Go" for iOS and Android at the E3 2015 in Los Angeles, Square Enix finally revealed the "Tomb Raider" version for mobile will be available by Aug. 27.

Following the success of "Hitman Go," which the Japanese games developer launched via Google Play in October last year, Square Enix decided to offer its action adventure video game series "Tomb Raider" for its second Go franchise installment.

The developer had earlier released "Lara Croft: Relic Run," a free-to-play endless runner for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone in May.

Based on the gameplay trailer, "Lara Croft Go" appears to have been inspired by the 1990s-era "Tomb Raider" titles, including play levels, enemy encounters, character animations and the English heroine's attire.

In "Lara Croft Go," Lara is seen exploring the ruins in what appears to be a long-forgotten ancient civilization. The puzzle-style mobile game presents a fully animated Lara in a minimalistically-rendered environment where players swipe to maneuver her over spinning blades and decaying platforms.

Unlike the action-packed sequences characterizing the "Tomb Raider" titles, "Lara Croft Go" focuses on visual effects, a calmer atmosphere, and turn-based gameplay.

Using mobile-friendly levels to help players work their way towards solving the more intricate puzzles, the game requires navigating a total of 75 treacherous levels in total, terminating in a boss fight with a huge serpent.

The mobile phone game also offers players chances to finds a number of hidden objects scattered around the environment, including artifact pieces and gemstones. These objects serve to add more replay value for players looking to make the most of the game.
