'Star Wars Battlefront' December Patch News, Details: New Update Renders Some Weapons Almost Useless

Besides the arrival of the highly-anticipated "Battle of Jakku" expansion pack, DICE has also released a new patch for its first- and third-person shooter video game "Star Wars: Battlefront." The update seeks to provide fixes for the bugs found since the game came out last month. It also intended to make some adjustments to weapons, which particularly didn't receive that much positive reaction from gamers.

Citing the details from the official Star Wars Battlefront website, the new patch is meant to modify and fix the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft PC versions of the game.

Heading the list is the "general bug fixes for vehicles and physics improvements." Game modes are also being given some balancing tweaks. There are also some HUD UI adjustments as well as audio optimizations. The update also comes with "general crash and stability fixes" and "online traffic performance improvements."

The game's languages have also been provided with text fixes. Missions and Multiplayer modes are also being given "general bug fixes." Players should also find the Legacy Controls already working after they integrate the new patch into their game.

Although the update is intended to further improve the overall gaming experience, a report from EuroGamer.net pointed out how the patch reduces the effectiveness of some of the weapons found in the game.

The site particularly cited the reactions of gamers who said that the effects of Barrage, which is the rank 24 Star Card ability that allows players to fire a volley of three grenades, has somehow become less effective.

As detailed, it now takes much longer for the grenades to blow up that it has almost become useless for area damaging purposes.

Another gamer cited by the outlet complained about the rank 25 blaster pistol, the DL-44, becoming "a lot weaker" and it now takes a lot longer to take down opponents.

"Star Wars Battlefront (2015)" was released on November 17.
