'Star Wars' Cast News: Mark Hamill Returned Because Of Harrison Ford
With "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" set to premiere next month actor Mark Hamill revealed an interesting tidbit of information regarding his return. According to the 66-year-old actor, he only decided to return after Harrison Ford did for fear of becoming "the most hated man in nerd-dom."
In a recent interview with the New York Times, Hamill revealed that he was initially very hesitant after he and Carrie Fisher were pitched the idea of reprising their roles by George Lucas.
"I was completely stunned," he said. "Carrie, not a minute went by — she slapped the table and goes, 'I'm in!' I said, 'Carrie, poker face!'"

"I was just really scared," he said. "I thought, why mess with it? The idea of catching lightning in a bottle twice was ridiculously remote."
He was also worried that he and his original trilogy co-stars were too old for and embarrassing for modern audiences. "No one wants to see the 50-, 60-, 70-year-old versions of us, running around, bumping heads on the Death Star, it's sad," said Hamill.
But while he definitely lost Fisher's support, he knew that Harrison Ford would have his back. After all, the actor had wanted out of the franchise even suggesting that Lucas and the others kill off his character in the original trilogy.
However, Hamill's hopes came tumbling down after the 75-year old actor said yes. He had to re-think things. "Can you imagine if I was the only one to say no? I'd be the most hated man in nerd-dom," he said.
Now he's stuck there, training a young Jedi in the ways of The Force. It's so bad though, for one his fears of stumbling inside a new Death Star as a senior didn't come true. Furthermore, his fans are probably more than happy to see Luke Skywalker again after so many years, even in his old age.
