'Star Wars Episode 8' News: Director Rian Johnson Already Being Sued for His Film
Even though the release of the upcoming "Star Wars Episode 8" is still more than a year away, the film has already been making buzz throughout the web.
While it was reported that the cast and crew of the upcoming film had just started production a few weeks ago, the director Rian Johnson is already being sued for the film. Reports revealed that his former work mate, Brian Dreyfuss, has pushed the lawsuit against Johnson.
Dreyfuss is taking action against Johnson for a break of implied contract, stating that 10% of the commission given to Johnson for any and all projects belongs to him. Dreyfuss stated that this is due to the nature of their work during the early stages of Johnson's career.
Meanwhile, Johnson explains that he had already fired Dreyfuss long before agreeing to work on the upcoming Star Wars project and it is possible that Dreyfuss is just looking to obtain from Johnson's success.
Nevertheless, fans are excited to see what Johnson has in store for the upcoming installment of the 'Star Wars" saga. The film is expected to be darker than the previous installment, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
In addition, it was reported that the film will bring new characters to an already stellar cast. Laura Dern and Benicio del Toro will be in the upcoming film. While there has yet to be any news on who del Toro will be playing, it was suggested that Dern could be a senior officer for the Resistance.
Dern's character might be second-in-command to General Leia. Hints revealed that General Leia will experience an injury that will give the responsibility of leading the group to Dern's character. There are also speculations that Dern will end up being Rey's mother. However, these details have yet to be confirmed.
"Star Wars Episode 8" is expected to release in theaters on Dec. 2017.
