'StarTalk' Season 3 Cast News, Release Date: Neil deGrasse Tyson Talk Show Gets The Green Light For Third Season

Fans of the American science talk show "StarTalk," which is hosted by famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, have reason to rejoice as the popular National Geographic program has just been renewed for a third season.

"Neil deGrasse Tyson is not only an incredibly accomplished astrophysicist, but also a very gifted communicator who blends pop culture and humor to make science accessible and fun, making him — and 'StarTalk' — a great fit for National Geographic Channel," a statement by National Geographic Channel Global CEO Courteney Monroe confirming the show's renewal read.

The NatGeo talk show is a spin-off of the "StarTalk" podcast, which began airing in June 2009. Audio recordings of the "StarTalk" TV program have since aired as podcast episodes. Both the TV talk show and podcast versions of "StarTalk" are hosted by Tyson and feature one-on-one interviews about science and technology with guests from the worlds of pop culture, news, and politics. Richard Dawkins, George Takei, Norman Lear, President Jimmy Carter, Christopher Nolan, and David Crosby have guested on the show. President Bill Clinton was the first guest for "StarTalk" Season 2.

The new guests for the forthcoming season include "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman, U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, "The Big Bang Theory" actress and neuroscientist Mayim Bialik, and two-time Olympic gold medalist Hope Solo.

The Season 3 premiere will coincide with the release of the "StarTalk" book, which will be published by National Geographic Books.
