'Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition' Announced For PS4 And PC
Capcom has finally confirmed everything that was revealed in the Amazon leak by announcing a new version of its flagship fighting game. "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" is set to be released early next year for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
The publisher has had terrible luck with leaks although most were not of their own doing. In this particular case, retail giant Amazon is to blame for revealing the existence of "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" last month. Even worse, they also leaked all the game's features possibly prompting Capcom to push forward with the announcement.
The updated version will include post-release content from season 1 and season 2 of the game in addition to new gameplay changes. The game will also feature 28 fighters consisting of the original roster plus the DLC characters.
One significant gameplay change is the addition of a second V-Trigger for every character. According to Capcom, this change will considerably change each character's playstyle.
Although not included in the publisher's announcement, it appears that "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" is the new retail version of the game many have suggested is necessary in order to lay to rest the mistakes of the game's launch. These included failing to launch the game with an Arcade Mode and refusing to add the feature despite fans' pleas.
With the Arcade Edition's release, owners of the "Street Fighter V" will receive new gameplay-related content which includes Arcade Mode, Extra Battle Mode, a second V-Trigger, the Gallery, and more, all for free. Otherwise, the game will be available for $40.
The fighting game is already on its second season of updates with the last DLC (downloadable content) character, Menat, being released on Aug. 29. A number of new costumes were also released for the game as well as new stage named English Manor. The new stage, as well as the costumes, can be purchased by players using real money or in-game currency.
"Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" is set to be released on Jan. 16, 2018.
