Student Brings $20K to School: Gives Cash Away to Classmates (VIDEO)

Police are investigating a 12-year-old girl after she showed up to class with $20,000 and began to give the money away.

According to reports, police are investigating a situation at the Academy Building in Taylor, Michigan after a student began giving away money to her fellow students.

The girl, 12, gave $200 to one student and $500 to another, ABC 7 News reported. The 12-year-old, who was not identified, allegedly told classmates that a friend in her neighborhood had given her the money. The girl's family members, however, have claimed that the money actually belongs to them. The school principal notified police after it was discovered that the student was handing out the cash.

Confirmation of where the money came from has not yet been made.
