'Suicide Squad' News, Spoilers: New Image Released; Details About Batman's Role Revealed
2016 is a really big year for comic books, what with Marvel Studios' "Captain America: Civil War" and DC Entertainment's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" bringing what now feels like hordes of superheroes to the big screen. But there's more to come in 2016 than just Captain America, Iron Man, Batman, Superman, and their friends. The Suicide Squad, DC's antihero band of misfits, make their big screen debut this year in "Suicide Squad," which is set to be released in August.
A new image has just dropped for the David Ayer-helmed film and it shows "Suicide Squad" stars Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Will Smith (Deadshot), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and Karen Fukuhara (Katana) ready for action. The image appeared on a USA Today's story on the DC shared universe, which also spilled some details about Batman's (Ben Affleck) role in the film.
"…Get ready for something really massive, smart and interconnected," Affleck told the newspaper, adding, "I've been really impressed just as a working stiff to see how they're doing it."

Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "Suicide Squad" director Ayer recounted Affleck's visit to his film's set. "We made him fight," Ayer said of Affleck, who plays the Suicide Squad's nemesis in the movie. "He's awesome [as Batman]… You really sense that but for the grace of God he himself would be doing some really foul stuff out in the world," the director added.
Though Affleck himself couldn't reveal too much about his involvement in "Suicide Squad," the actor disclosed his feelings about the film, saying, "It felt like I have such a cool cousin." "This thing that is so awesome is somehow related to me, and that was really exciting because it started to feel like a constellation of things, and I've never had that feeling," he added.
"Suicide Squad" also stars Jared Leto, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Adam Beach, and Jay Hernandez. The film hits movie theaters on Aug. 5.
