Surface Book Faster than MacBook Pro?
Microsoft has claimed that its new Surface Book has twice the speed of Apple's MacBook Pro 13, but apparently, the company lied.
The Surface Book is not twice as fast as the MacBook Pro 13, but it is actually three times as fast. However, Microsoft's new laptop computer will definitely not be able to ace the MacBook Pro 15 because it is a lot bigger, heavier, and more powerful, according to PC World.
For the CPU test, Microsoft never really specified the kind of test it used to come up with its claim that the Surface Book is twice as fast as the MacBook Pro. But PC World executive editor Gordon Mah Ung suspects that the test they used was based on the GeForce chip. Running the test using the benchmark Tomb Raider at 1400 x 900 with the Normal quality setting, the Mac yielded a result of sub-24 fps, while the Surface Book's result was 74 fps. This is actually three times the performance of the MacBook Pro, the report explains.

The Surface Book comes with a base price of $1,499 and the device is not expected to be shipped in about a month or more. The unit runs an Intel Core i5 chip with 128 GB of storage and 8 GB of memory. The $3,199 version runs an Intel Core i7 processor and has 1 TB of storage and 16 GB of memory. The more expensive variant will be available in January, USA Today reports.
Microsoft's Surface Book has a physical keyboard with backlit keys and a very nice trackpad. It boasts of a 13.5-inch detachable touch screen display that allows the user to use it as a tablet. This feature comes in handy for those who regularly do business presentations, surf the Web, or just take down important notes. The Surface Book will last three hours as a clipboard and up to 12 hours when the display is attached to the physical keyboard. Reattaching the display will allow the device to function as a Windows 10 laptop.
There are tons of comparison coming out between the Surface Book and the MacBook Pro, but the choice on what to buy ultimately depends on the preference of the user. If the user prefers to work with Windows, then the Surface Book will be a wonderful choice.
