Target Dress Apology: Photo of 'Manatee Gray' Dress for Larger Sizes Outrages Customers (VIDEO)
Target has issued an apology on Thursday for a dress that it had put on its online store for sale.
The shop got in trouble when it was noticed by online shoppers that one of the dresses for sale changed the name of the dress' color when it was shown in a larger size. The larger dress' color was described as a "manatee" color, seemingly after the large aquatic marine mammal.
The offensive color description sparked outrage, and soon comments about Target's description went viral on the Internet.

The dress' color in one size was described as "Dark Heather Gray," however, if the dress was viewed in the larger size the color description changed to "Manatee Gray."
Outraged online shoppers copied a photo of the offensive label and soon the image became a viral sensation on the Internet.
Target has since issued an embarrassing apology, saying that the offensive dress color label was simply an "unintended oversight."
Target spokeswoman Jessica Deede told Forbes: "We never want to offend any of our guests. We apologize for any discomfort that we may have caused … We are in the process of fixing the discrepancy and updating Target.com so the gray dress will be available in all styles … We're working on updating our systems right now."
The representative for Target also pointed out that "Manatee Gray" was not meant as a description for clothing size, but that the same color was used for many other items the shop sold, including towels, rain boots, and shirts.
