Ted Danson Leaving 'CSI: Cyber,' Fate of CBS Series in Jeopardy?
The fate of CBS series "CSI: Cyber" is rumored to be in jeopardy as lead star Ted Danson is about to leave the franchise for a new project with NBC.
Ted Danson is set to join Kristen Bell in NBC's "Good Place" as Michael, the person who will help Eleanor (Bell) in her self-improvement course. CBS Entertainment President Geller has already confirmed that Danson will not return to "CSI: Cyber," according to Entertainment Weekly.
In the wake of the announcement about Danson's departure from the long-running crime series, fans have been left to wonder what will happen to the crime drama franchise. There are speculations that it will end for good, while there are those who are hoping that the series will still continue.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (THR), "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker said he does not think the series will come to an end after Danson leaves. He pointed out that crime's future trend is cyber, and that should be enough reason for the series to continue.
"We're going to go ahead and do 22 [episodes] as ordered, and then you sit tight in May and see how the schedule shuffles around and you hope to continue," Zuiker told THR. "… Because the future of crime is cyber, there's no reason why it shouldn't continue."
Although "CSI: Cyber" has not been able to match the performance of its predecessors "CSI: Miami" and "CSI: NY," it has a solid following among adults 18 to 49 years old, the report relays.
Zuiker also told THR that there are still no plans to do a fourth "CSI" spin-off after "CSI: Cyber." He explained that he is still waiting for the right concept that will fit their present situation. For now, he reiterated that his focus is on the third spin-off.
After leaving "CSI: Cyber," Ted Danson will be seen on "Good Place," which will run 13 episodes.
