'Teen Wolf' Season 6 Air Date, Spoilers and News: Dylan O'Brien Returning to Shoot Upcoming Season; How Will Cast Handle Stiles-Less Existence?
When Dylan O'Brien sustained serious injuries from shooting "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure," MTV's "Teen Wolf" nearly had to go back to the drawing board and prepare for a Stiles Stilinski-less Season 6. It would have been especially devastating had he not been able to go back, since Season 6 is the final curtain call for the werewolf tv series.
Thankfully, the "Teen Wolf" leading man has recovered from his injuries and is now fit for production, Parent Herald reported. In fact, the new "Teen Wolf" poster now shows Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) and Stiles (O'Brien) together, albeit separated by a lightning bolt. This could have something to do with Stiles' fate last season, when he was abducted by Ghost Riders.
What went down last season
Fans would recall that Stiles was kidnapped by the mysterious horseback riders. According to the "Teen Wolf" mythology, these ghost riders coerce you to become part of the "Wild Hunt." Anyone abducted will also be erased from everyone's memory, as if they never existed in the world.
Conveniently enough, this could allow for episodes without Stiles. But more importantly, this new plot device would allow the show to explore previously uncharted territories when it comes to crafting villains. Sometimes, "Teen Wolf" showrunner Jeff Davis said, the hardest thing to deal with is being "completely forgotten."
Spoilers for "Teen Wolf" Season 6
With Stiles gone, the new "Teen Wolf" season 6 will be taking a long, hard look at his three best friends: Scott, Lydia Martin (Holland Roden) and Malia Tate (Shelley Hennig), and how they go about their lives without realizing Stiles is gone. But in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Davis revealed that the person most affected by this loss is Sheriff Stilinski, who is suddenly confronted with the dilemma of erasing his own child from his memory.
Luckily, Lydia seems to recall Stiles because of their deep connection with each other, Davis said. As a banshee, she could be the key to his salvation, and may even be able to converse with the Ghost Riders in "Teen Wolf" Season 6.
Tyler Posey, who plays one-third of Stiles' best friends, will be making his directorial debut on "Teen Wolf's" swan song. He talked about making a "dark" ending for the show, but at the same time, giving the "Teen Wolf" series the ending it deserves.
Excited to find out how it all ends? "Teen Wolf" will premiere Tuesday, Nov. 15.
