'Terminator' Reboot News: Film Will Move Away From Rules Of The Timeline
It seems that James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger are trying to distance the upcoming "Terminator" reboot from the "mistakes" of the more recent films in the franchise. Schwarzenegger recently revealed that the new film will move away from the "rules of the timeline."
It's probably no secret that the "Terminator" franchise isn't what it once was with the recent string of underwhelming films. There might still be hope with the upcoming franchise reboot to be produced by the franchise creator himself, James Cameron.
Most mainstream fans lost interest in the franchise when Cameron's simple horror-thriller elements in the first two films were replaced in favor of the more sci-fi-heavy time travel mechanics of the later films. However, in a recent interview with Business Insider, the actor said that with Cameron and "Deadpool" director Tim Miller at the helm, the next film will fix, and simplify the franchise's formula.

"I think Cameron and Tim came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie," he said. "What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton's character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters."
Schwarzenegger believes that there's plenty of ground to cover with the T-800 model he portrayed. According to the actor, the T-800 is a machine that can be destructive and do things human beings can't do. However at the same time when newer technology comes along the character suddenly is vulnerable and that makes him even more interesting.
He also took a shot at the downfall of the series, namely "Terminator: Genisys" which came from a mix of the confusing time traveling plot and therefore taking away the vulnerability of his character. Now, however, he sees Cameron's return and the change of direction as a chance to correct the "Terminator" franchise which has definitely lost its way.
