'The 100' Season 3 Spoilers: Executive Producer On 'More Emotional' Season, Raven's Big Role
"The 100" kicked off its much-anticipated third season on Thursday, with the story picking up three months after the tragic deaths at Mount Weather. Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) is a changed woman, physically (her blonde locks are now a fiery red) and emotionally (she is on the run and in denial about what happened at the end of Season 2).
In an interview with E! News, "The 100" executive producer Jason Rothenberg revealed some details about the new season, saying, "The great thing about season three is we're exploring a little less fighting, physical action, and a little more emotional stuff."
According to Eliza Taylor, who was also present at the E! News interview, Clarke is "darker" - "literally and figuratively." At this point in the post-apocalyptic drama, Clarke is trying to remain emotionless and forget about the events at Mount Weather. She's been busy trying to survive, living off the land, changing her appearance, and attempting to blend in with the Grounders. There's a wildness to this new Clarke that wasn't there before. But as hard as she wants to escape her past, Clarke's demons are bound to catch up with her. Taylor also revealed that Clarke's arc in the third season is "finally confronting everything she's been running away from."

Aside from Clarke's personal dilemma, there's a lot more to this season that fans may or may not be expecting. "This season, we're telling two awesome, epic [and] very different stories that have a surprisingly mind-blowing connection," Rothenberg told Entertainment Tonight.
In the E! News interview, the executive producer also talked about what fans can expect from Raven's (Lindsey Morgan) storyline in Season 3. After being shot at the end of Season 2, Raven is recuperating, but not very well. According to Rothenberg, the mechanic's injury will play a big part in her Season 3 story. Now that Raven is disabled, how will she contribute to the survival of the group?
Rothenberg, who said that he gets a lot of criticism on Twitter from fans who think that all the show does is torture Raven, said: "Without her brain, they'd have been dead multiple times. She becomes a key factor in the survival of the human race this season."
"The 100" Season 3 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
