'The Flash' Season 2 Episode 9 Spoilers: Barry Does Battle With Weather Wizard, Captain Cold, Trickster

After taking down Vandal Savage in the recently-held special crossover episode event between "The Flash" Season 2 and "Arrow" Season 3, it looks like trouble is still far from over for Barry Allen in Central City as he has yet to deal with a team of rogues.

This week's showing will be The CW show's midseason finale titled "Running to Stand Still" and according to the synopsis posted over at The Futon Critic, the Scarlet Speedster will once again face Mark Mardon a.k.a. The Weather Wizard (Liam McIntyre) who, as it turns out, has managed to get Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and James Jesse a.k.a. The Trickster (Mark Hamill) out of Iron Heights prison.

It would be of immediate concern for Barry to ensure the safety of the whole city as the citizens celebrate the Christmas holidays. However, it looks like the circumstances won't be the same as the first time he met the trio. In fact, his upcoming altercation with the Rogues will prompt him to summon yet another trick from up his sleeve.

In TVLine's interview with the actor who plays the titular character, Grant Gustin, the latter revealed that "Barry does another thing with his powers that he, in the moment, discovers and that he's never done before."

"It's kind of goofy in a way where it's very comic book-y. It's cool," the actor went on to say in the interview.

In another development, the summary from TFC hinted at the introduction of Joe West's (Jesse L. Martin) son, Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale).

It appears that Iris West (Candice Patton) will finally come clean with her father about their family. It would be interesting to find out how the CCPD detective will react to the news as well as his lost son's appearance.

Patton, meanwhile, said in the same interview with TVLine, that fans will certainly love the upcoming Christmas episode as it will tackle "a lot about family."

"It's a good Christmas episode, just like the last one. Good villain, good love and good heart," she said.

"The Flash" Season 2 midseason finale airs Dec. 8 on The CW.
