'The Flash' Season 2 News: When Will Barry Allen Meet National City's 'Supergirl?'
Greg Berlanti is one of the key personalities who has made it possible in bringing some of the popular DC Comics superhero characters to the small screens. Aside from serving as executive producer for The CW's "Arrow" and "The Flash," Berlanti also has parts to play in CBS' hit TV series, "Supergirl," which is currently in its freshman season.
During the recent New York Comic-Con event, Ali Adler, who co-exec produces the Melissa Benoist-starred show, has told in one of the interviewers with Screen Rant about the possibility that Supergirl might swoop into the universe shared by Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) of "The Flash" and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) of "Arrow."
The talks died down in the course of months and just this week, in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, a report from BleedingCool.com has been spotted by several media outlets and it once again indicates the possibility of a "The Flash/Supergirl" crossover.
The site claimed to have gotten word from their reliable source that fans should expect Barry and the STAR Labs crew meeting for the first time, Kara Zor-El from National City. The crossover event is purportedly slated for May sweeps, which means that it could happen should the CBS network orders for a "back nine."
For Berlanti himself, he previously told TVLine that merging the two DC Universes would require a huge load of work.
"Storytelling-wise, that would be something we'd have to overcome. We're just focused on getting this one launched and hope that it enjoys some of the same success... with the same quality and commitment of fans. And if all those things happen, who knows?" he said (via TVLine).
For the meantime, "The Flash" Season 2 will be on a two-night crossover event with "Arrow" Season 3 this Tuesday, Dec. 1.
