'The Flash' Season 3 Cast Details, Spoilers, Updates: Barry Messes Up Present Timeline; Will the Time Wraiths Take Revenge?
"The Flash" Season 3 premiere saw Barry Allen (Grant Justin) realizing his mistake when he chose to revel in the false bliss of his alternate reality in the "Flashpoint" universe. While he did eventually go back to his old timeline, Barry soon found out that he hasn't completely undone the time paradoxes he'd caused by altering his timeline. This is what the speedster will be dealing with in "The Flash" Season 3 Episode 2, "Paradox."
Recap of "The Flash" Season 3 premiere
It may be recalled that during "The Flash" Season 3 premiere, Barry Allen had created an alternate timeline called the Flashpoint after he'd successfully saved his mother from death. In the Flashpoint, his mother is well and alive, his father hadn't gone into jail, and he'd even clinched a date with Iris. However, Eobard Thawne (Reverse-Flash, played by Matt Letscher) had warned him that time will eventually catch up with them, and that one day, Barry will be begging Eobard to kill his mother.
As he went about his day, Barry suffered from painful flashes, which Reverse-Flash said was a side-effect of his mind overwriting the memories of his past. Soon enough, Barry also loses his memories and his powers. But when Wally West (the Kid Flash) fails to speed-heal following a fatal encounter with the Rival Flash, Barry decided it's time to make things right again and return to normal.
Spoilers for "The Flash" Season 3 Episode 2: Paradox
But Barry Allen will soon find that it's not that simple to go back. "The Flash" Season 3 Episode 2 will see Barry dealing with the altered present, where Iris and Joe are in bad terms with each other. He'll also meet Julian Albert (Tom Felton), a new co-worker who's inexplicably rude and disdainful of Barry.
The Flash also has some pretty serious competition to worry about as his little stint back at the Flashpoint awakened Edward Claris (the Rival) to a voice that etched its name on a mirror: Alchemy. ScreenerTV reported that Barry's tinkering of the past had earned him the ire of the Time Wraiths, keepers of Time who punish those who try and mess up the past. They were first seen chasing The Flash back in time during "Flashback", killing off Zoom (Teddy Sears) during the Season 2 finale after the latter screwed up his time remnants.
Note that Barry had not only attempted to save a dead (wo)man walking from certain death, but had also caused repercussions in the present timeline trying to revert back. It's almost certain that the Time Wraiths will descend upon The Flash in all fury - how will he be able to deal with that?
"The Flash" Season 3 Episode 2 airs Oct. 11, Tuesday, on the CW.
