'The Good Wife' Season 7 News, Update: Series Star Statement Implies End Of Alicia Florrick?

When CBS announced that the creators of its hit TV series "The Good Wife," Robert and Michelle King, would be leaving after the curtains of Season 7 falls down, countless speculations have mounted up indicating that this could already be the end of the legal drama.

During the latest Television Critics Association winter press tour, CBS Entertainment chief Glenn Geller revealed that both Michelle and Robert have already decided to step down as showrunners of the highly-acclaimed TV programming.

"The Kings did say they would not be returning after this year," the network official was quoted as saying over at The Hollywood Reporter. When asked why, Geller responded by saying that it's all about the preparation for the launching of their second scripted series, "BrainDead," which airs this summer.

As if the couple's decision weren't shocking enough, series star Julianna Margulies opened up to the press last week about her future in the show as Alicia Florrick.

The multi-awarded actress recently attended the Casting Society of America's third annual Artios Awards and released the following statement:

"I surprised Robert and Michelle tonight," Margulies said and was cited over at Vulture.com. "They didn't know I was going to be here. They think I'm here for them, but I'm unemployed come April, and I think you haven't seen me in a while, at least not in person, so I thought I should show up."

Could her disclosure mean that her stint as the good wife is already over? It is yet hard to determine but for CBS, they still would like for the show to go on.

"The bottom line is CBS is trying to make deals for an eighth season, so we would be there in a supervisory role, but the storytelling we have will finish in the seventh year," Mr. King told TVLine.

For the meantime, "The Good Wife" Season 7B is yet to resume on air with the episode called "Judged," which premieres this Sunday, Jan. 31 on CBS.
