'The Legend of Zelda' Wii U Release Date Delay Rumors: Game Launch Delayed Yet Again?

Rumors have surfaced "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U will be delayed yet another time after its released was pushed back this year.

Nintendo EAD Group's upcoming action adventure game, "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U will reportedly experience another release setback after having previously delayed its expected 2015 launch.

The 19th major installment in the top-selling "The Legend of Zelda" video game franchise was initially showcased during the E3 2014 at the Los Angeles Convention Center where Nintendo Wii U gamers witnessed the game's visuals and gameplay presentation.

After having built up the anticipation, "The Legend of Zelda" producer Eiji Aonuma announced the delay in March, saying the planned 2015 release would be pushed back to the following year.

At the E3 2015, Nintendo America head Reggie Fils-Aimé confirmed the Nintendo EAD Group was planning for a 2016 release for the single player game. Nintendo also launched "The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes" during the tradeshow, which it plans to officially launch for Nintendo 3DS on Oct. 23.

In the latest "The Legend of Zelda" news, a quarterly financial report from the Japanese gaming giant stated the 2016 release for the highly-anticipated action adventure title may not take place, after all.

A launch schedule for Nintendo's primary products show the game, together with "Project Giant Robot," has been given an indefinite "TBD" launch date, showing no time frame for its release, and with indicators pointing out to another delay, pushing the game further back for a possible 2017 availability.

With the rise of the new Nintendo 3DS game console generation, the electronics consumer company is said to be planning to phase out the Wii U due to its falling sales, with "The Legend of Zelda" serving as its swan song.

As a second delay for the game looks imminent, it may appear the Wii U will be around long enough to see the latest of Link's Hyrule adventures come to pass.
