'The Mentalist' Season 6 Spoilers: Agent Pike to Grow 'Increasingly Important' to Lisbon

"The Mentalist" returns to CBS this Sunday with an installment entitled "Il Tavolo Bianco," but fans are still wondering if Lisbon will move to D.C.

For the past six seasons, "Mentalist" fans have witnessed Patrick Jane's relationship with Teresa Lisbon. Now that Lisbon has found love with Agent Pike, a love triangle has begun. Offering more on the situation, executive producer of the television series Tom Szentgyorgyi revealed spoilers for the rest of season six.

"I think Jane was feeling curiously like a third wheel- something he doesn't feel very often- and wondering why he felt that way," the EP told TV Line. "Pike is with us through the end of the season, and he will become an increasingly important figure in Lisbon's life, so Jane is wondering what he's feeling, because he's been the most important man in Lisbon's life- and suddenly he might not be."

As previously reported, the season will close with a "romantic" finale on May 13, but it remains unknown if the romance will be between Lisbon and Pike, or Lisbon and Jane.

"It's a romantic finale rather than a [suspenseful] finale," series creator Bruno Heller told TV Guide. "With the death of Red John, there's a sense of tying [things] up and certainly this romantic angle is one of them."

In the past, Heller discussed Lisbon's romance with Agent Pike, explaining what the character is seeking in her life.

"In order to fulfill herself- even is she eventually fulfills herself with Jane, which she may or may not do- she has to find other relationships, other perspectives, other people who love her, just to feel fully who she is," he told Entertainment Weekly. "It's very important for her to be able to step away from Jane and see herself for herself."

"The Mentalist" airs Sundays on CBS at 10 p.m. EST. The synopsis for "Il Tavolo Bianco" is as follows: "A grand jury is convened to review Red John's murder and determine if Jane should be tried. Meanwhile, Lisbon wonders what Jane's reaction would be if she relocated with Agent Pike; and Cho and Abbot track some new leads in the human-smuggling ring."
