'The Punisher' Spinoff Series Rumors: Netflix Plotting A Frank Castle/Punisher-centric Drama?
Fans of Marvel and Netflix's hit superhero drama TV series "Daredevil" may have already known that actor Jon Bernthal will be joining the show as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in Season 2. As it turns out, the comic book magnate and streaming service company are quite happy with his involvement that it is now rumored that there's a spin-off being developed featuring the vigilante.
TVLine claimed to have first gotten hold of the information. However, it seems like the proposal is still under discussion and it would be farfetched to assume that the project is now under development. This is due to the fact that "Daredevil" Season 2 won't be hitting the small screens until March and Netflix has yet to introduce the gun-toting anti-hero.
If this pushes through, "The Punisher" or whatever the show will be named, will be the sixth Marvel series following the already-aired "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones," as well as upcoming shows like "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders."

For the meantime, Bernthal revealed, in an interview with the folks at Entertainment Weekly, the grueling preparation he made for his latest portrayal.
"The training and physicality is extremely important in whatever I do. Luckily I know guys in the military branch he was in. I trained with them and trained a lot with weapons," he told the media outlet.
Aside from the physical aspect of the character, the "Walking Dead" alum also pointed out the importance of putting himself in Frank's shoes to better portray the part.
"…with Frank, what was important was the emptiness inside him. He's dealing with this unbelievable loss. There's unbelievable anger and hatred and shame," he said, while adding that he had to put himself in "as dark of place as possible the last six months."
During the course of immersion, the 39-year-old often found himself taking long walks from Brooklyn Bridge to the filming set. The goal, according to him, is to "shed any outside influence of joy."
As to how successful he was able to take on the part, fans will find out for themselves when "Daredevil" Season 2 debuts March 18.
