Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Update on HTC HD2: The Smartphone That Never Dies

THe HTC HD2 has proven its immortality since it can now run Android 5.0.1 Lollipop.

The device got its nickname as the "phone that never dies" for its ability to sport different operating systems. The HTC HD2 was released in 2009 and has already received several operating systems such as Android 2.2 Froyo, Firefox, Ubuntu, Windows Phone 7/8, and Windows RT.

HTC HD2 is highly popular with the techies that create Custom ROMs. Microsoft released it with Windows 6.5 but failed to upgrade it over the years. However, the hackers took over and continued to upgrade the handset with different types of OS.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop for HTC HD2 was updated through Custom ROM 3.0 101 kernel. Although the ROM is in the early stage, users can expect more development since macs18max vowed to finish it.

The "immortal" HTC HD2 weighs 157 grams and measures 11 millimeters. It has a 4.3-inch screen that displays TFT capacitive touchscreen in 65K colors. The resolution is 480 x 800 pixels with 217 ppi pixel density.

As for the hardware, it runs with Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon with 1 GHz CPU and Adreno 200 GPU. The users can have an access to 448 MB of RAM and 512 MB or ROM. If the gadget owner wants more memory space, the HTC HD2 can be expanded up to 32 GB via its microSD slot.

The gadget sports a 5 megapixels camera with 2592 x 1944 pixels. It can compete with newer smartphones with its autofocus, dual LED flash and geo tagging features. The video can take up to 480p@30fps.

HTC HD2's battery is a Li-Ion 1230 mAh, which can stand-by up to 490 hours for 2G and up to 390 hours for 3G. The user can have a talk time of 6 hours and 20 minutes for 2G and 5 hours and 40 minutes for 3G.
