'The X-Files' Revival Spoilers: Fox Releases First Minute Of Premiere Episode
A few days is all that stands between the world and the much-awaited revival of cult favorite "The X-Files," which is set to premiere on Jan. 24 on Fox. After teasing the reboot at MIPCOM in Cannes and at Comic-Con in New York, the network has now given fans a glimpse of the revival's first episode before it airs. The opening scene of the revival can now be viewed on the X-Files site Do You Still Believe.
Narrated by Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny), the short clip features old photos from the nine seasons of "The X-Files," which ran from 1993 to 2002. Mulder tells the story of how his fascination with paranormal science led to his work with the FBI and his relationship with Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson).
"My name is Fox Mulder," the narration begins. "Since my childhood, I've been obsessed by a controversial global phenomenon since my sister disappeared when I was 12 years old, in what I believe was an alien abduction," Mulder reveals.

He goes on to explain how his obsession led him to the FBI, where he investigated paranormal cases under a unit called the X-Files. The teaser also shows photos of Mulder working with Scully, who, according to him, was brought in by the FBI to "impugn" his work and "debunk it," but whose faith, he says, was also tested.
Mulder also reveals how "in a change of direction and policy," the FBI closed down the unit, putting an end to his and Scully's investigation, but not to his personal obsession.
Apart from Duchovny and Anderson, the "X-Files" revival will also feature Joel McHale ("Community"), Lauren Ambrose ("Six Feet Under"), Robbie Amell ("The Flash"), Annet Mahendru ("The Americans"), Annabeth Gish ("The Bridge"), and Rhys Darby ("Flight of the Conchords").
"The X-Files" revival event kicks off with a two-night debut beginning Sunday, Jan. 24, before launching in its own timeslot on Monday, Jan. 25, at 8 pm on Fox.
