'The Young and the Restless' Cast News, Spoilers: Michael Muhney Breaks Silence After Being Fired
"The Young and the Restless" star Michael Muhney recently broke his silence on Twitter following his controversial firing from the soap opera earlier this year.
The actor portrayed Adam Newman, but after being accused of sexual harassment including the groping of cast member Hunter King (Summer Newman), Muhney was fired from the show in January. Around the same time, Muhney tweeted, "Benjamin Franklin said it best, 'Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see."
The actor also added, "and that quote doesn't only apply to what is being said about ME. It applies to others. Please be kind everyone. #respect"
Almost six months later, Muhney took to Twitter on April 28.
"Lotta good people in this world," he wrote. "I'm thankful each and every day for the overwhelming love."
Also, new reports this week indicate that Muhney is not guilty of sexual harassment, and that the allegations arose out of hearsay on the "Y&R" set, according to a soap opera insider.
"Unfortunately, after speaking to several of Muhney's co-stars and backstage crew, it's clear the dangerous game of telephone over at Y&R turned this into the sensational lie that it is," the source said, according to Nelson Branco via CelebrityDirtyLaundry.
Moreover, the insider suggested that bosses at "Y&R" were looking for a reason to fire Muhney.
"Michael picked a few too many battles, which is why he was let go," the source said. "It had nothing to do with anything else."
Meanwhile, in order to explain the actor's absence, "Y&R" writers had Muhney's Adam fake his own death in a car accident. Now, rumors suggest that show runners- including executive producer Jill Farren Phelps- are searching for a new actor to replace Muhney in the role as Adam.
Consequently, many "Y&R" fans remain divided over the scandal, with many even boycotting the soap opera. No reports have indicated if a new actor has been cast in the role of Adam or not. It is also unknown if "Y&R" show runners are considering rehiring Muhney in the role.
