"The Young and the Restless" fans may be in for a surprise with reports suggesting that character Adam Newman may not be dead this week.
The cast of the long-running soap opera is ever-changing, with many beloved characters taking an exit from the show over the past few months, such as Billy Miller's Billy Abbott being replaced by David Tom. More recently, Michael Muhney's character Adam Newman went missing in "Y&R."
As a result of the abrupt changes to the plot and the cast, fans voiced outrage and even threatened to boycott the daytime drama. However, readers may be pleased to learn a spoiler: Adam Newman may not actually be dead. In fact, following Muhney's firing, "Y&R" producers are searching for a replacement actor to bring Newman back to the show sooner or later, according to RadarOnline.

"There are active auditions going on," in efforts to replace Muhney, according to an insider at the website.
Nevertheless, producers are reportedly struggling to find the perfect actor to portray Newman in Muhney's place, and are avidly searching for an actor who the "audience will grow to love," the insider added. Once an actor is found, though, Newman will remain "central to the show."
Muhney was fired from "Y&R" following sexual harassment allegations, and his last episode aired on Jan. 30. The actor's dramatic exit is causing "Y&R" producers to seek a replacement actor with a more subtle personality, according to Radar.
"If there is even a hint of diva behavior, or drama, the role won't go to that person. Period," the source revealed. "Everyone wants to move on from that disaster."
Meanwhile, "Y&R" just added David Tom to the cast. The actor will replace Billy Miller in the role of Billy Abbott on the show, even though he previously portrayed Abbott from 1992 to 2002.
"It feels totally comfortable and I'm smiling from ear to ear," Tom said of returning to the drama, according to TV Guide. "It's so great to be back."
"The Young and the Restless" airs on CBS on weekdays.
