'Thor: Ragnarok' Cast Update: Cate Blanchett Rumored to Play Villain Role, Mark Ruffalo Confirming the News?
It's still a long way to go until "Thor: Ragnarok" hits cinemas. But with the online world filled with reports about upcoming movies, it's not too hard for fans to get some updates about the third installment of the film every now and then. The latest to hit the rumor mill is about Cate Blanchett's involvement in the movie.
According to a report by Coming Soon, the Academy Award winner actress has been in talks for a role in "Thor: Ragnarok." Although there is no official confirmation to that yet, actor Mark Ruffalo may have accidentally hinted that Blanchett will appear in the movie as a villain.
As detailed in Inverse, Ruffalo, who will reprise his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in "Thor: Ragnarok," was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight at the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party. When asked about his thoughts about co-star Blanchett who was also present at the event, Ruffalo answered with certainty.

"I'm so thrilled. I saw her at the Governor's banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, 'Please, please, please make this work!'" he responded. He then continued to say, "She's just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting."
There's no word though which villain Blanchett will be portraying but previous reports have already rounded up some female villain names from the comics who may possibly be the movie's main big bad. Some of the possible roles that the actress may play can either be Amora the Enchantress, a powerful sorceress, or Hela, the alleged daughter of Loki and queen of the dead.
Whether or not Blanchett will appear in the film, fans will have to stay tuned to find out. "Thor: Ragnarok" stars Chris Hemsworth and is scheduled to premiere on July 28, 2017.
