'Thor: Ragnarok' News: Thor Movie Paves Way for Infinity Wars

The upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" is expected to be the gateway for a milestone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The president of Marvel recently shared some details as to how important the upcoming installment of the "Thor" franchise is. He explained in a statement that "Thor: Ragnarok" will be the film to ignite the way for the upcoming Avengers film, "Avengers: Infinity War."

According to Kevin Feige, "[Thor 3] is a very important movie for us in Phase 3. We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in Avengers: Age of Ultron and impacts everything that comes after."

Chris Hemsworth will be reprising his role as the God of Thunder, Thor. It was also confirmed that Tom Hiddleston will be back in the film as Loki. However, it was not yet revealed as to how big of a role he will play in the upcoming film. Another Avenger joining Thor is Hulk, who will be played by Mark Ruffalo.

The film will be directed by Taika Waititi, who has worked on several projects such as "What We Do in the Shadows" and "Flight of the Conchords." He will be working with Stephany Folsom, who is the screenwriter for the upcoming film. Folsom explained that it is her dream to be writing for "Thor: Ragnarok."

While details about the progress of the film's production have yet to be revealed, the film has already received some problems while looking for a capable director. It was revealed that Patty Jenkins was supposed to direct the upcoming film, which would make her the first female director for a Marvel film. However, there were reports stating that she has issues with Natalie Portman, which led to her removal from the project.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is expected to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
