'Tokyo Ghoul' Season 3 Updates, Spoilers, and News: Ken Kaneki to become One-Eyed King?
The spate of critical acclaim for Japanese manga series, "Tokyo Ghoul" continues to sweep the world: its eighth volume by Sui Ishida ranked seventh in the Nielsen Bookscan's Top 20 manga series being sold in Japan. The series' Seasons 1 and 2 storylines have likewise earned universal praise. As the manga/anime series remain well-received, reports speculate that the show runners are pressured to bump up the release of Season 3 sooner!
While producers kept mum about the upcoming new seasons, the manga storyline could give away helpful hints as to how the third season could possibly go. A report from Anime Maru stated that the new season would be "disillusioning" and psychologically dark, packed with more action and gore while maintaining faithful to the source material.
Anime Maru got access to the season's first episode, which featured a lengthy monologue from the ghoul Touka Kirishima, who lamented having to choose between three great universities: To-Oh, Kamii, and Duke. Her inability to answer her own dilemma would pose great psychological distress over her, especially with the increasing ghoul discrimination and racial tensions in the United States. She seemed inclined to choose Kamii to be with Kaneki, but the latter dropped out to move on to greater things.

What happens to Kaneki?
Fans who've read the "Tokyo Ghoul: re" manga would recall that Kaneki recently had a rematch with the legendary ghoul investigator Kishou Arima. True enough, Kaneki lost, rendering him unstable and devoid of identity. He will assume the name Haise Sasaki, and will recover with the help of none other than Arima himself.
Kaneki will eventually battle him again in an epic clash, and while both refuse to hold back, Arima commits suicide by slashing his throat. With his death, Kaneki rises to the title of the One-Eyed King, and becomes one of the most feared and powerful ghouls in the world.

Season 3 is also speculated to pick up two years after the Commission on Counter Ghoul raided the Anteiku, and will run into a terrorist organization called Aogiri Tree. Producers have yet to declare a release date for "Tokyo Ghoul's" third season to the frustration of many fans of the franchise. But they can certainly expect a live-action movie based on the popular series this 2017, starring Masataka Kubota (Ken Kaneki) and Fumika Shimizu (Touka Kirishima) and directed by Kentara Hiragawa.
