Tori Spelling Breaks Silence on Cheating Scandal
Tori Spelling is opening up about her marital problems with Dean McDermott, including the cheating scandal, in a new docu-series headed to Lifetime.
The former "Beverly Hills 90210" actress has been married to McDermott for seven years, and the couple share four children together. However, in December, news broke of McDermott's infidelity. Today, Spelling is sharing just how deeply the news affected her family, including the moment she found out, in a series entitled "True Tori."
"I got a call from my publicist and she said, 'I just want to tell you something,'" the 40-year-old actress recalls in a new clip via E! Online. "'It's a girl, and she's claiming that she had an affair with Dean in Toronto when he was there. The girl has come forward. She's put her name to the story. She's giving all the details about her two-day affair with your husband in Toronto, and it's going to come out next week- Christmas.'"
Following Spelling's conversation with her publicist, she took her husband outside and confronted him.
"My heart was pounding so fast, like it is right now, that I could barely speak," she explained during the clip. Spelling confronted McDermott, 47, on his alleged affair with 28-year-old Emily Goodhand who claimed to have met him in Toronto where he was promoting The Food Network's "Chopped Canada."
"He told me he and Tori had a sexless marriage," Goodhand told Us Weekly in December. "I believed him."
Consequently, McDermott checked himself into a rehab facility for "health and personal issues" that turned out to be a sex addiction. Furthermore, he issued a public apology for "the mistakes I have made and the pain I've caused my family."
"True Tori" debuts on Lifetime on April 22, just three weeks after taping for the show began, according to the L.A. Times. In a previously released clip from the show, Spelling admitted she was "well aware this might not have a happy ending," eluding to divorce and indicating that the events in her marriage are still ongoing.
Meanwhile, the cheating allegations arose just 16 months after McDermott and Spelling welcomed their fourth child, Finn, who was born after a difficult pregnancy involving placenta previa. The couple also shares Liam, 6, Stella, 5, and Hattie, 2.
