Town Saves 'Gay' Dog Shunned by Owner (PHOTO)
A pit-bull dog has been saved from the "put down" list in Jackson, Tennessee after a woman took pity on him after his owners gave him away claiming that the dog was "gay."
Elton's story was shared on Facebook earlier this week after the shelter where the dog was abandoned posted a plea for someone to save him on the social media site. Fortunately, hundreds appeared taken by Elton's story and nearly 1,300 people commented on his photo and plea.
"This guy was signed over to RC, not bc he's mean or bc he tears things up, but because... His owner says he's gay!" the Facebook plea read. "He hunched another male dog so his owner threw him away bc he refuses to have a "gay" dog!"

But the plea goes on to state that Elton didn't do anything strange and that in fact, his play was just normal behavior.
"Don't let this gorgeous dog die bc his owner is ignorant of normal dog behavior!" the plea added. "He's in kennel 10L and he WILL be put down tomorrow bc there is no room at the inn!"
Among the many who commented was a woman named Stephanie Fryns. Fryns offered to save the dog's life and put him through a routine check up before finding Elton a forever home.
"I am adopting this big boy first thing in the morning," she wrote on the Facebook page. "He will be neutered/ htwm tested/ and vetted. He will be temperament tested and then places in a rescue verified and approved home."
Just hours before the dog was scheduled to be put down, Flynn arrived at the shelter to save the pit bull at the 11th hour. Flynn then adopted Elton and took him home, where she reported that he was doing fine although slightly scared.
"[Elton] was pretty friendly so far. He's pretty scared of everything, which is understandable," she said according to the Boston Globe."But he loved the car ride."
