'Transformers 5' News: Official Release Date Finally Set

Over the past few months, fans have been clamoring for any information Paramount Pictures will reveal about "Transformers 5," and finally, the movie has received its official release date.

Multiple outlets report that the movie, which will once again be directed by Michael Bay, is scheduled for release next year in June. The movie is set to release alongside Warner Bros.' "Wonder Woman," another anticipated film. Since the two big movies are set to release at the same month, it is expected that fans will have a hard time choosing which ticket to purchase.

Bay will once again pick up the story after the massive success of the franchise. However, there have been rumors that he might not be taking over the next couple of "Transformers" movies. According to Den of Geek, the director said he will hand over the rest of the films to someone else, giving fans more time to ponder on the sad news.

Meanwhile, both the sixth and seventh films have also been given their official launch dates. "Transformers 6" will hit the big screens on June 8, 2018, while "Transformers 7" will land in theaters on June 28, 2019.

Aside from the three movies getting their release dates, it has been confirmed that the 2018 film will be a spin-off to feature the amazing and fan-favorite Bumblebee. The character has been one of the most iconic in the history of the franchise and it is speculated that fans will storm into theaters when the spin-off premieres.

A "writers room" was created last year specifically for the purpose of brainstorming and coming up with ideas for the sequels, and just as expected, there has been huge developments from the team.

It is unclear which director will take over the sixth and seventh sequels, but fans are rooting for a change of heart in Bay. Moviegoers have commented in the past years that the franchise won't be so much of a success without the award-winning director.

"Transformers 5" hits the big screens on June 23, 2017.
