'True Blood' Season 7 Spoilers: 'Fewer Stories' In Final Season
"True Blood" season seven returns to HBO this summer, but fans can already expect to see much more their favorite characters than ever before, according to the television series executive producer.
The vampire drama is entering is seventh and final season on June 22, marking the return of Sookie Stackhouse, Eric and Bill in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana. However, showrunner Brian Buckner revealed that things are simplified on "True Blood" this time.
"Here's my sincere hope: that we get to see more of everybody we love, because everybody is under the banner of fewer stories," the EP told ScreenRant. "The story is 'for every human a vampire, for every vampire a human,' and now that there's a lesser need for separate plot and separate story development for every single character that we have, we're actually going to get to spend more time with them."
As previously reported, season seven will see "sick" vampires infected with Hep-V target humans in the final season, and only Sookie can stop them. No character on "True Blood" is safe from being killed- including Eric, according a trailer for the new season. The clip noticeably omitted actor Alexander Skarsgard who portrays Eric, the debonair vampire whose fate hung in the balance at the end of season six. The final trailer for season seven surfaced online earlier this week.
Furthermore, Ryan Kwanten, who portrays Jason Stackhouse, warned fans that beloved characters would meet their demise in season seven.
"People are going to be dying," the actor revealed to Access Hollywood. "Some of your favorites are not going to last the season, unfortunately."
Although details on the final season are scarce, HBO president Michael Lombardo said that the series "has been nothing short of defining" for the network.
"Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show," he said in a statement.
The final season of "True Blood" premieres on HBO June 22 at 9 p.m. EST. The series stars Anna Paquin as well as Stephen Moyer, Joe Manganiello and Sam Trammell, among many others.
