'Twin Peaks' Season 3 News, Update: Original Cast Member Sherilyn Fenn Confirms Role Reprisal Reports
Things are starting to get in shape in the upcoming revival of the cult classic crime drama TV series, "Twin Peaks."
According to the latest casting reports, actress Sherilyn Fenn is confirmed to be on board for Season 3 of the show. As detailed over at Deadline, the 50-year-old will be reprising her role as the young, seductive Audrey Horne for the new episodes, this time written by series creators Mark Frost and David Lynch.
The publication went on to specify that Fenn will be working closely with David Patrick Kelly as Jerry Horne and Richard Beymer as the latter's brother and Audrey's father, Ben. Needless to say, her involvement will once again see the reunion between her and Kyle MacLachlan, who plays as one of the major characters in the series, Special Agent Dale Cooper.
Although fans can see the surging chemistry between the two characters in the first season, Dale and Aubrey never made it official, however.
It remains to be seen if the two will be having some romantic interactions in the new Showtime series. What is sure though is that Audrey would be "expected to have a major presence" in the latest season.
As an actress, Fenn was recognized for her performance in the drama as she was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Emmy award in 1991 and 1990, respectively.
If Fenn is joining the fray, Deadline, however, confirmed that Lara Flynn Boyle has declined the offer to return to the world of "Twin Peaks."
In related casting news, TVLine also reported that Lynch's long-time collaborator and actress Laura Dern will be joining the project for a pivotal role.
The specifics are still being kept under wraps but the media outlet pointed out one theory that she will be Agent Cooper's "never-before-seen secretary" Diane. The network has yet to comment on the rumor.
"Twin Peaks" is slated to return to the small screens in 2017 on Showtime.
