UFC Fight News 2016: T.J. Dillashaw Dares 'Pillow' Fisted Champ Dominick Cruz for a Rematch
A fighter who loses to another fighter in a close decision will always have something to say, and quite interestingly, the script is pretty much the same — that they felt like they won it. When T.J. Dillashaw lost to Dominick Cruz last month in a fight that could have gone either way, he obviously wasn't happy with the outcome that he now demands a rematch against his opponent, whom he called as a "pillow" fisted fighter.
The championship fight between the two top bantamweight, mixed martial artists in the world for UFC Fight Night 81 resulted in a decision win for Cruz, officially reclaiming the same title he had to vacate back in 2014 when he suffered an injury. While Cruz is looking to have a date with Urijah Faber, Dillashaw for his part dared him to fight again, to once and for all show everyone he can beat him convincingly.
In an Instagram post meant to infuriate and hopefully convince him to fight, Dillashaw had an image of a pair of running shoes on top of pillows, suggesting that Cruz does nothing in the Octagon but run and throw pillow fists. Part of the post reads:
"Only equipment needed for the rematch against Cruz. Next training camp is going to be strictly running marathons and pillow fighting. Cause that little (b*^-h) doesn't want to fight he wants to run and throw his pillows around that he calls fists!"
This latest theatrics from Dillashaw add more drama to the bitter rivalry of the two. And it could well be more than enough for UFC President Dana White to reconsider the rematch and make it a priority over the planned third fight between Cruz and Faber.
The split decision loss to Cruz proved to be quite painful for Dillashaw, who successfully defended the title twice before losing it to the former titleholder.
