UFC Fight Rumors 2016: Rafael dos Anjos Ready to Rough Up Conor McGregor
The trash-talking Conor McGregor will be facing a silent but dangerous fighter in Rafael dos Anjos in a lightweight championship bout for UFC 196 scheduled in March. And if some fights out there struggle to sell tickets and PPVs, this one's exactly the opposite, thanks to the Irish fighter's brash way of hyping his fights.
And while McGregor has done all the talking in the lead up to the highly anticipated matchup, it certainly looks like dos Anjos has had enough of it. "I will shut this guy's mouth," the Brazilian said. And no one can blame him for making this personal now. For the entirety of the fight's promotion, the 31-year-old veteran MMA fighter has been receiving barbs and insults from McGregor. For one, the Irish fighter accused dos Anjos as a "traitor to his people." He was referring to the fact that although dos Anjos is Brazilian, he lives and trains in the United States.
As the current UFC lightweight champion, dos Anjos feels like he should easily beat McGregor and that the only advantage the challenger has is the fact that he runs his mouth like no one else can. In retaliation, dos Anjos believes his opponent is a "classless" and a "low life," even though he wears expensive clothing and all that.
But for mixed martial arts experts, the only way dos Anjos will have a chance against the hard-striking and aggressive McGregor is to put him to the ground and take the action there. As for McGregor, he may be talking a lot heading into his fights, but in the end, he always proves he's as good as he believes he is. He literally puts his money where his mouth is. A proof of that is the fact that he's 7-0 in the UFC and hasn't really met someone who threatened to defeat him.
