During its series debut, "Under the Dome" gained 13.5 million viewers for the pilot episode, and had an average of 11 million viewers for the rest of the season, making it a massive success.
It was considered as the highest TV drama premiere from any network since 1992.
However, the show suffered a significant drop in ratings for Season 2, bringing the network only 8.55 million viewers.
Offering an indication that good news should be reaching fans some time soon, CBS head Les Moonves has said that the network has not been too worried about the drop in ratings. He insisted that the production is paid mostly by international distributors and Amazon, and so there was not as much pressure on the network when it came to that show's ratings.
Whether the show will be renewed for a Season 3 or whether it will be canceled remains to be seen.
